Advantages and disadvantages of learning technologies 

Every phenomenon in our life has its advantages and disadvantages and learning technologies is no exception.  I firmly believe that among obvious advantages of using learning technologies we can mention the following ones:

1. Firstly, it is highly interactive (can give feedback as much as possible). 
2. The material is various and entertaining; can vary any course.
3. Provide a combination of media. 

    

1. Authentic.
2. Motivation(students are digital natives that's why they're accustomed to deal with computers.)

And, of course, some disadvantages:

1. Not all the teachers are advanced users; may occur technical problems which they would not be able to solve.
2. Low speed of the Internet connection, or absence of the latter.
3. Students can see not appropriate content on the Internet.
4. Various distracting information not relevant to the class.

I’d like to present some sort of E-learning activity. Those who do not know what it is, can read the detail description of it here. So, I chose a Podcast (a type of interactive technologies to engage students and enhance the learning experience) activity. These activities were developed for upper intermediate students. The material is taken from podcastsinenglish.com.

The text is named “The lucky dog and the plucky duck”. There are some assignments to work with this audio.

To continue the Animal topic, we can also use another dynamic interactive resource that compels young people to consider what happens when people are cruel to animals. Actually, the author did a great deal explaining all that new buzz terms. He reports at length about new phenomena that the new educational period implements gradually into the learning process.
